Left Behind at the Fishbowl the Book?
Here's an idea I've been kicking around: do you think the papers contained on this site would work as a book? I know about submitting fiction to places, but not how books get pitched.
I mean Found Magazine has their books, and PostSecret has theirs. Of course they're considerably more well known than I am.

Not sure, man. Your schtick is considerably different from both of theirs. You could give it a shot, but I'm not sure how many people would buy a book of someone making fun of college students' shitty papers.
I don't know a thing about the liability of what you're doing, honestly... but I do know about pitching books, some. How many unique visitors do you get to this site? Because that right there would be your "platform," and that's what catches the non-fiction publisher's eye.
i love your blog, but i personally wouldn't purchase a book of it.
I would love to see such a book! BUT to be brutally honest, would it have the same appeal for people who've never graded papers?
However, the short humorous book Non Campus Mentis was published, and is vaguely similar in spirit (although its samples of student writing are extremely brief snippets).
Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?
Though I subscribe to Millie's sage advice, you know I'd buy a copy, buddy.
Wouldn't there be copyright issues with a lot of the papers?
i wouldn't hold your breath over it buddy...
yeah, i figured as much. it was just nice to think "hey maybe i avoid having to get a real job if this were a book that made money for me"
on an unrelated topic, that update is still coming today, but it'll be pretty late.
Love you site - always raises a chuckle.
If you to publish, try Friday Project.

I actually think that a published book -- if marketed in the right way -- would do quite well. It would be interesting to call in a larger group of people to "edit" the papers (the drawings work well) and to then select only the funniest ones. The copyright issues are easily negotiated.
I tripped over you here on Blogger today and read for more than two hours. I was going to go out to the movies tonight, but this was more fun. As a freelance editor and aware of an independent publisher or two who are looking for this kind of thing, I'd say, yes you could get it published and it would sell well, but don't get all hyped up about money. Only the authors of NY Times bestsellers who have written several books make that kind of money.
Having said that, contact me if you are serious about this project. (Yes, you have to go allllllll the way to my blog to get the email address. It sucks, I know...)
